One of the biggest challenges when you have food sensitivities and allergies is eating out. I have been gluten free since May (I feel amazing) and I am slowly figuring out what is best to order when eating out and the best places to go. Over the summer my niece and nephew stayed with us for a week. My nephew was diagnosed with Celiac Disease at 18 months of age so he is a real pro already (at age 9). He tipped me off to the best gluten free hamburger buns while they were staying at our house…
RED ROBIN… Yummmmm
Yes, if you go to Red Robin restaurants nationwide you will notice that they offer gluten free hamburger buns on their menu. You do have to pay an extra $1.00 for them, but they are so good it is worth it. My daughter and I had lunch there on Saturday, and I was so impressed with my waitress. As soon as I ordered my burger with the gluten free bun, she immediately knew to ask me if I wanted her to hold the season salt as well (because it is not gluten free) on my fries. Then as she left my table I heard her say to her manager that there was an allergy at table whatever number we were and I could hear her tell the kitchen staff, too, as she put my order in. WOW. Now I am not allergic to wheat to the extent my nephew is, but it is so reassuring to know that Red Robin takes food allergies and its customers seriously!
I have not really been impressed with gluten free bread so I usually just don’t eat it, but the gluten free buns at Red Robin are so soft and have a nice such a nice flavor that I really did enjoy eating my burger – bun and all.
Next time you are looking for an allergy friendly restaurant, I highly recommend Red Robin.
