My Emergency Travel Bag
I have a little red envelope bag that I received along with a make-up purchase years ago. I love the fact that it is red, but even more, I love that it has become our emergency kit. Everywhere we go the red bag comes with us, and the kids always know if they need a band-aid while we are at the park, we’re covered. Everything in the bag comes packed flat which is mighty convenient. So what is in this bag?
- Band-aids of all shapes and sizes
- Individual antibacterial packets (neosporin)
- A travel pack of wipes
- A pair of latex gloves
- Triaminic Thin Strips
- Children’s Chewable Motrin
- Lactaid (for one of my daughters)
- Single packs of adult pain reliever
- Feminine products
- 1-2 granola bars
- Emergen-C
Depending on where we go, I do add to it. Do you have an emergency kit? What do you keep in it?

My brother takes care of emergency kits for the whole family, including a poncho! I worry about the fun end of things and pack a “magic bag” full of car friendly activities for the kids.
Katelyn – the magic bag is another post all together. Thanks for stopping in!
I think I may need to bring my Emergency Bag back into use – I was out with one of the children yesterday, and needed supplies.
In ‘the old days’, I carried about nappies, drinks, food, medication etc, but thought we’d outgrown all that. I even invested in a new, smaller, more elegant bag. More of a handbag, and less of a backpack.
I was so wrong!
I use to carry the emergency kit around everywhere before baby number 2 arrived. Now, I have so many bags I keep forgetting to get the kit and keep it in a bag we use regularly. Now, where did I put it??? But, we do have one. Thanks for the reminder.
Lucy and Cindy – I am surprised that even though we are past the diaper stage, I still need to carry an extra bag. Usually I take an extra backpack on trips to keep spare clothes, a few snacks, the red bag, and other diversions.
My husband has about 3 emergency kits under the sink. We took one of them on our camping trip this past weekend.
Love the theme btw.
Thanks Jenny!! I like what you have done with yours too!
