School’s In and So Are Head Lice

It is day 3 of school for my kids and we already got one dreaded note – one of the children in my daughter’s class has head lice. Great. That is the last thing I need to deal with. Luckily the nurse took the time to examine each child’s head and my daughter does not have it.

Even so, I am going to be checking all of my kids more frequently now that they are back at school. I will also remind them of the importance of not sharing combs, brushes, hats, hair bands, pillows and such.

I have found some really good sites for getting more information on head lice, how to detect them, eliminate them and what they look like:

You got the headlice letter after only 3 days of school! That has got to be something of a record.

We used to wet-comb all our children once a week to check for nits. We’ve got a bit lax about that recently … must get back into the habit, at least for the ones still in primary school.

Lucy – It is definitely the earliest I have ever received the note. I should probably get in the habit of wet combing the girls at least once, too.
