I was a little worried about the holiday’s this year – especially since it would be my first holiday season since I have started eating completely gluten free. I was worried about the temptations to eat all those yummy cookies, cupcakes and baked goods. I was worried about going to holiday parties. And I was worried about what to serve Christmas morning. Luckily for me, all my worries were unfounded! I managed to make it through with the greatest of ease! One of the reasons it has been easier than I thought is that there are now so many great gluten free options that I never knew existed. For example, the week before Christmas a box arrived addressed to me:
Oooh, shiny! I love the metal tub that was the base for my gift basket, but where was it from and what did it contain? The gift basket was from my sister-in-law and she ordered it from Katz Gluten Free.
Inside I found a six pack of unfrosted vanilla cupcakes, unfrosted chocolate cupcakes, honey muffins and chocolate frosted cupcakes. YUM. And all of them are dairy free, nut free, soy free and of course, gluten free.
I was intrigued most by the honey muffins because muffins are the one breakfast food I really miss the most. I put one of the honey muffins in the microwave for about 20 seconds, cut it open, put a little butter and raw honey from BeeRaw.com on the inside and enjoyed it with my cup of coffee. Very good!!
My Sister in Law also sent my Mom a gift basket from Katz which meant double the tasting for me! Her gift basket had various Katz gluten free donuts, donut holes and assorted cookies in it. I liked the powder sugar coated donut holes the best and my kids didn’t even realize they were gluten free.
So, if you are looking for a gift idea for a friend, relative or yourself that is gluten free – I highly recommend Katz Gluten Free. Actually, they carry gluten free versions of baked goods, like Rugelech, that you probably didn’t even think could be made gluten free.
