Red Hot Applesauce Recipe
My good friend Jeri had been talking about her favorite applesauce recipe and agreed to not only share the recipe, but also a jar of it with me. The kids and I have all tried it out – and it’s unanimous – this is yummy applesauce. The secret ingredient – the Red Hots – gives the applesauce a very nice cinnamon flavor and red color.
How simple is this?
- 12 apples peeled and diced
- 1 box of red hot candy (I have found at Wal-Mart or 5-Below)
- 1/2 c apple juice
Mix together in a slow cooker (Crockpot). Cook 6-8 hours on low or 4 hours on high. Stir once in awhile. The longer it cooks the smoother it will get.
The kids liked it cold, I thought it was best warmed up. Either way, it’s super simple and tastes great!
